Description
Photogrammetric Dataset for the Venus Anadiomene (inv. N.126248)
The 3D model of the Venus Anadiomene (inv. N.126248) was created using a Photogrammetric dataset, which includes:
- RGB Photographic Dataset captured in the visible spectrum.
- Metashape Workspace File: the project file containing the photogrammetric processing workflow to generate the statue 3D model.

- Research focus Description
Found on 21 October 1867 in Pompeii (no. 1 of the Notamento di Spedizione of 17 January 1902, no. 251, no. 173), in House VII, 3, 4-6, in the aedicule on the back wall of the garden. The statue dates to the 1st century BCE and II AD. She is shown in a semi-twisted posture characteristic of the "Anadyomene" type, standing in a frontal position with her arms raised to her head. The posture suggests the action of wringing out her hair after rising from the sea, which is typical of this iconography. The statue is incomplete, notably missing its right arm; the lower body is covered by drapery, which is intact and skillfully carved to depict the folds of fabric. Her hair is styled and pulled back, reflecting the movement of wringing it out. The upper body is nude, emphasizing Venus' association with beauty and sensuality, while the lower half of her body is draped in a flowing garment that rests around her hips.

- Method Description
Three-dimensional digital models have been created using Agisoft Metashape, which performs photogrammetric processing of digital images and generates 3D spatial data. The created models usually need some refinements and editing to correct imperfections or errors on the surface. These operations were performed by Blender an open-source system for processing and editing 3D triangular meshes, which provides a set of tools for editing and texturing meshes.
