Description
Photogrammetric Dataset for the Satyr with frog (inv. N.6537)
The 3D model of the Satyr with frog (inv. N.6537) was created using a Photogrammetric dataset, which includes:
- RGB Photographic Dataset captured in the visible spectrum.
- Metashape Workspace File: the project file containing the photogrammetric processing workflow to generate the statue 3D model.

- Research focus Description
This statuette dates to I st century AD and was found in the viridarium of the House of Camillus, VII 12, 22.23, in Pompeii. The small sculpture depicts a young hero (erote) seated on a rock, drawing back his feet, possibly frightened, at the sight of a large toad. His deep, alarmed gaze is emphasized by two large eyes framed by heavy eyelids, and this expression is further accentuated by a flat nose and a half-open mouth. He holds his right hand open and raised at face level, while his disordered legs add liveliness to the movement. The toad at his feet has its mouth open, as its function was to allow water to spout through. From an iconographic perspective, we are looking at a model of a frightened erote.

- Method Description
Three-dimensional digital models have been created using Agisoft Metashape, which performs photogrammetric processing of digital images and generates 3D spatial data. The created models usually need some refinements and editing to correct imperfections or errors on the surface. These operations were performed by Blender an open-source system for processing and editing 3D triangular meshes, which provides a set of tools for editing and texturing meshes.
